When you click on create an Application, you would see page which looks something like this
Apart from other details we ask you to specify what platform are you planning to make the app upon.
The reason why we do that is because of
Platform Specific Configurations
There are a few features which require certain configurations which are platform specific (for e.g. Push Notifications).
By not selecting a platform, we would hide the configurations for that particular platform.
